Dahi Puri

Dahi Puri

Dahi Puri is a type of chaat, a popular Indian street food. It's made with tiny, crispy puris that you fill with layers of savory, spicy, and tangy ingredients. Then you pop the whole puri into your mouth for a taste sensation I liken to fireworks!

Serves 4

Ingredients

1 small russet potato - boiled, peeled, and diced

1/4 cup cooked chickpeas

salt

1/4 tsp garam masala

12 golgappa puri - available in Indian grocery stores

1/2 cup yogurt

Brooklyn Delhi Sweet Mango Chutney or Spicy Mango Chutney or Date Tamarind Chutney

2 tbsp chopped cilantro

1/4 cup red onion, diced

Tomato Achaar

Method

Add salt and garam masala to the potato and chickpeas for flavor. Lightly tap the center of one side of the puri and arrange them on a serving platter.

Add a spoonful of boiled potato and chickpea to each puri.

Take a small spoon and add some yogurt inside the puri, followed by Mango Chutney or Date Tamarind Chutney.

Garnish with some cilantro and red onion and drizzle some Tomato Achaar on top of the puris for added heat.

Eat right away as it can become soggy quickly!
